This is such a loaded question that we would probably be shocked if we could look at the stats for how many people ask themselves this question a day. I believe that people from all walks of life, with all levels of education, with all financial statuses, and all races have asked themselves this question at various times. I wonder why we do it, I wonder what the deeper meaning of that question is when we ask it? What are we asking ourselves? Are we questioning our worth? Are we considering our belonging? Is the question really about our value in the world? I truly believe that no matter who we are we have grappled with this question before. I wonder what place inside of us makes us question the value of what we have inside of us. When we question our enoughness (my new word for the dictionary 😜), I think we are truly questioning the value of what is on the inside of us. When we are challenged with opportunities that we do not feel worthy of, or equipped to handle, we often lean into the thoughts of not being enough. I think that what we miss is that honestly, maybe we are not enough to man but through Christ, we are more than enough. If the one who created the world and you, lives on the inside of you, that makes you enough.

I think we all have faced this question at least a few times in our lives. I often have wondered where that question gets its roots from. Is it rooted in a lie that we have been told? Is it a confidence issue? Is it a lie that we have formed in our heads about what we have to offer? Where does this question stem from? I have an answer that I would like to share with you about this question. When we are not living in the truth of who God says that we are, we struggle with believing that we are enough. We are not enough just because of who we are, but because of whose we are.

So, if you like me have asked yourself this question, YES you are enough. Have you noticed that in different seasons we are faced with different challenges that stretch us, grow us, and push us forward? Those challenges stretch us and I believe the stretching is not for us alone but for those we will be assigned. I think the growth and stretching help steady us in different seasons. It helps nurture what’s inside of us that needs healthy pressure to grow and become enough through Christ. I want to encourage you to believe that you are enough even when you’re not invited. You are enough even when you’re lonely. You are enough even when you don’t feel good about yourself. You are enough even on the worst days. You are enough even when you enter rooms that you feel inadequate to be in. You will always be enough. Believe that as truth and walk in it.
I’m so glad you’re here. I see you and you are so loved by the very one who created you. Jesus looks at you and he loves you so much.
