According to a study done by psychologist at Queens University, humans have 6.5 thoughts per minute or 6200 thoughts per day. Human thought takes time to form, and so the “right now” that we’re experiencing inside our skulls is always a little later than what’s going on in the outside world. It takes 500 milliseconds, or half a second, for sensory information from the outside world to be incorporated into conscious experience. Just this information alone tells me that our thoughts are powerful. Our thoughts are so powerful that they can change our perspective. Our thoughts help shape our future. Our thoughts cause us to walk in victory or defeat. Honestly I believe our thoughts help to shape who we become. Have you ever considered, we can have 100 thoughts and 99 of them can be positive but it is that one negative thought we will hold on to. It is that one negative thought that we will continue to allow access to our minds and eventually into our hearts. I want you to consider that if a negative thought has that much power, how much more power can a positive thought have in our lives. Let’s keep going to learn some truth about how powerful our thoughts are.

“For as he thinketh in his heart, so is he”. Proverbs 23:7a

Here we see a scripture that is so intriguing when we consider how powerful thoughts are. The bible states that as a man/woman thinks in  his/her heart, so is he/she. What I believe is true about this passage is, we have thoughts but the thoughts that go without being  dealt with can get in our heart. See, our hearts are the power source for it all. Once that thought gets rooted in our hearts we believe it as truth and we live from that place. Keep in mind that our physical hearts are the source of life. Our hearts are what pumps blood to all the other organs in our body to keep us alive. In that blood is oxygen that helps us survive. So, think of it in terms of our thoughts, our thoughts are not the complete source but they are a big source to our relationship in Christ. When we have the mind of Christ, we respond like Christ did, we live like Christ did and we think like Christ. Can you imagine what would happen if we allowed the thoughts that Christ thinks of us access to our heart. If the word is truth (and it is) if we think in our hearts of ourselves like Christ does, then so are we.

Now that we understand the power of our thoughts, we can be more intentional with the thoughts that we allow to repeat themselves in our mind and take up resident in our heart. I have lived from a place in the past where my thoughts had complete control over me. I would allow one negative thought after the other to fill my mind. It was like I did not even know the power I had to not give place for negative thinking. I didn’t have to make a space for negative thoughts but I could cast them down and replace them with a more positive thought. Now, let me warn you that doing it a few times here and there will not help. It will take consistency with casting down negative thoughts and replacing them with thoughts that are good to meditate on. Let me add this, sometimes you will have to look at facts and replace them with Godly truths which will also help with how you think about things. So, you might be wrestling with the thought that you don’t have the provisions you need. The fact might be that you bank account is running on empty but the Godly truth is, God will supply all of your needs according to his riches in glory. When we start speaking from that place, the facts will align with God’s truth and your thoughts will follow.

I want to challenge you to think about what your thinking about and be intentional in casting down thoughts not of God and those thoughts that might be good but they are not serving you well. There are some thoughts that need to be explored and possibly talked through with someone you trust to help you find the root of that thinking and get it out. I know that can be scary to share intimate thoughts with others but that’s where being in relationship with Jesus helps. Jesus will lead you to who that safe person is. It might just need to be you and the Holyspirit that need to sort through those feelings and let him lead you to the root to get it out of your heart. You will have to trust your life to the one who made you though👀🙂…..that can be hard for some of us. We find it easier to trust our lives to those we see rather than to the one who sees every part of us, and knows the details of who we are because he made us💚. Praying for you and grateful your here.
