It has been a moment since I’ve shown up in this space but stepping away and spending time with God is never loss on me. It’s been the sweetest time. Now I’m back in this space, encouraged and ready to spend the rest of 2024 sharing my heart with you. In this post I want to take a moment to share a very special moment that happened recently for me and left a impact in my heart.
So, I’m always considering or thinking about how I can make others feel seen and heard. I think in the times that were living in, that it is coming more and more important that others feel like someone cares for them. So, when God allows that to happen for me in something so simple but powerful for me, I know I need to share it. At my church typically every Sunday there is one minute placed on a count down clock, during that time you have an opportunity to greet those around you with a fist bump, high five, handshake or a hug. You get to choose how you want to greet them based upon how comfortable you are. Let me say this for all of us anxious introverts ….that 1 minute feels like a whole eternity😁. This particular Sunday, I had greeted those around me and with 20 seconds on the clock, I quickly sat down. A lady at church, tapped me on the shoulder and intentionally greeted me with a hand shake and a beautiful smile. I’ve seen her a few times at church, but I don’t know her. Honestly I don’t even know her name. The way she made me feel in those few moments impacted my heart. I began to think of how the things that seem so small and insignificant are really the things that touch others lives in ways that leave them feeling seen and known.

What is that thing that seem so insignificant that you keep avoiding that God wants to use to impact someone’s life? It might be a smile, a hello, a handshake an intentional look in the eye asking them how they are. It could be a sticky note of encouragement but it’s the intent of the heart in which you do it from that counts. God has called us to love one another. We are called to spur one another forward into the good things God has for us all. I thank God that she followed the leading of God to tap me on the shoulder and intentionally speak to me. The thing that she didn’t know was that I needed that so much more than she knew.
So, the next Sunday during that one minute, I greeted a few people all while looking for her. I found her and I went to her and told her how much it meant to me, I told her how it made me feel known and seen. I hugged her and she embraced me and shared how she is trying and how she doesn’t know if it helps. Well, now she knows that small intentional acts of kindness from a pure heart can bring big impact. I hope this will serve as your reminder to do the small insignificant things that you feel like aren’t enough, but are the things that people truly need. I leave sticky notes on the desk of teachers at school, they don’t know it’s from me, but I go in their rooms and see them taped to their desk. I smile inside knowing that Jesus is pleased and I’ve left some small impact by doing what seems insignificant from a pure heart to bless someone else.
I’m so grateful you are here. Thank you for showing up in this space with me. I’m grateful that you take a moment out of your day to read my words. Blessings to you. I encourage you in the coming weeks to do something kind to bless someone else💚.
