I could hardly wait to post this blog from all of my guest bloggers. I must admit, we can learn a lot from children when we take time to really sit with them and listen. So this post is near and dear to my heart. I work in a school with kinders and I find myself in some deep conversations with them. I have been asked questions that have challenged me to think really deep, long and hard. Did you know that children are extremely important to Jesus? ‭Mark‬ ‭10:13‭-‬15‬ ‭NIV‬
[13] People were bringing little children to Jesus for him to place his hands on them, but the disciples rebuked them. [14] When Jesus saw this, he was indignant. He said to them, “Let the little children come to me, and do not hinder them, for the kingdom of God belongs to such as these. [15] Truly I tell you, anyone who will not receive the kingdom of God like a little child will never enter it.” This scripture is how important Jesus view of children is. Jesus encourages us to approach the kingdom just as children, who are full of awe and wonder. I remember when my children would get hung up on a movie and they would watch it over and over and over and every single time was like the first time. Just think what if we approached the word of God or kingdom things or even our relationship with Jesus just like that. I will let that sit with you a moment, just as I sat with it when God spoke it.
So, I asked a few friends and family to ask their children what Christmas means to them and I want to share what the children said. I also asked a few of my kinders. So with no further ado, here are my guest bloggers.

“Spending time with family. Being blessed with good food. Getting presents from Santa. To me Christmas is joyful, and a caring time of year opening presents with my family.” –Kara (age 9)

“Christmas means joy. “-Thema (age 5)

“Christmas is Santa joy “-Alaysja (age 5)

“Christmas is happy time with my toys” –Jamel (age 6)

“Christmas is very special to me because you get to spend time with your family and open presents by the tree. We celebrate Christmas because it’s Jesus’s birthday and I hold that dear to me. I like Christmas traditions with my family like decorating the tree, painting and doing crafts, and baking cookies.”
Cooper (age 11)

“What Christmas means to me is that you spend time with your family. Also, that you celebrate the birth of Jesus. To be honest with you, my favorite part of Christmas is my family’s tradition, the scavenger hunt. I also like setting up the Christmas tree with my mom, dad and brothers.” -Jeremiah (age 10)

“Christmas means being nice to my family first, friends and everyone. Christmas means to me celebrating Jesus Christ birthday. Christmas means to me, getting a lot of presents. Christmas means to me being a good girl or a bad girl and I’m a good girl. Christmas means to me, my brothers making me good hot chocolate. -London (age 7)

“Christmas means to me to celebrate God. On Christmas Day I get to spend time with family. I get presents from my parents. That’s what Christmas means to me”. – Isaiah (age 9)

What I heard in each of these sweet guest bloggers’ posts was deep traditions. As parents no matter how small it may seem, traditions are impactful to the lives of our children. As I read each one of their posts I could tell how important family traditions were to each of them. These traditions will one day become a part of their family traditions. Greater than anything I knew that these children knew why we celebrate this time of year. There is so much happening in our world, I just wanted you to hear from the heart of a child what Christmas means to them. I pray you will grab this hope from our children and hold it close to your heart this season. As we set aside this time to celebrate the birth of our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ, maybe you do not know that he can be born in your heart as well. Jesus loves you so much and came to earth for you and me. I would love for you to pray the prayer below with me to begin the season with Jesus being born in your heart.

Lord Jesus, I come to you just as I am. I need a Saviour. Forgive me of all of my sins. I invite you to come into my heart. Just as we celebrate your birth this season, I want you to be born in my heart. Lead me and guide me on this new journey with you. In your name. Amen.

If you prayed that prayer the angels in heaven are rejoicing right now with you. I’m grateful for you. I am praying this Christmas season that you will feel the presence of Jesus near you. I pray for those grieving the loss of loved ones this year that you will feel the comfort of Jesus as he surrounds you this season. You are so loved. Merry Christmas to all of you.

P.S. Thank you to all of the parents who allowed your children to be guest bloggers in this post with me. I pray that Jesus will greatly bless every one of you.
